North Cave Wetlands – 18/05/2022

A great visit with plenty of invertebrates to be found. A Holly Blue on the East Path was a nice find, they seem to be having a good year around East Yorkshire this year. A female Broad-bodied Chaser was found on the south side of Far Lake, with a female Hairy Dragonfly, Four-spotted Chaser and Red-eyed Damselfly all found in the south-west corner of Main Lake. Melangyna compositarum/labiatarum was a new hovefly for me for the site. A nice selection of beetles were present, a Water Ladybird along the north path being the highlight, though this one got away from having its portrait taken. Egyptian Geese on Dryham Ings cell A were also a first for the year.
