A mainly overcast morning with still conditions, temperatures around ten degrees. Around 400 Pink-footed Goose Anser brachyrhynchus were moving north to the west of the reserve. Along North Path the male Corn Bunting Emberiza calandra was singing from his favoured spot in North Field. A few Lesser Redpoll Acanthis cabaret were showing well along the dyke, feeding on the Rosebay Willowherb. A male Bullfinch Pyrrhula pyrrhula also showed well here. The male Mandarin Aix galericulata was again on Carp Lake, with a Kingfisher Alcedo atthis also present there, along with the Green Woodpecker Picus viridis. On Dryham Ings Cell A a group of 13 Ruff Calidris pugnax was a good count. Along the lane at least 40 Siskin Spinus spinus were present. Finally nine Little Egret Egretta garzetta were present on Main Lake.
