North Cave Wetlands – 28/10/2018

An sunny early morning visit with a touch of frost, a gentle northerly wind blowing. Temperatures reaching around seven degrees C.

Despite the cold start, things warmed up enough along Dryham Lane to draw out some insects. True Bugs fared the best with Pantilius tunicatus being a new reserve tick for me. Common Froghopper Philaenus spumarius, Field Damsel Bug Nabis ferus and Spiked Shieldbug Picromerus bidens being the other finds in this group. A few Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum and 7-spot Ladybird Coccinella septempunctata were the most noticeable species along the Lane, with a single Eristalis tenax rounding off the insect inventory.
