North Cave Wetlands – 07/11/2018

An afternoon visit with intermittent sunny conditions, a moderate southerly breeze blowing. Temperatures around 13 degrees C.

The moderate southerly meant that I could only muster one insect on this visit, the ubiquitous 7-spot Ladybird Coccinella septempunctata, a few present along Dryham Lane. Bird-wise the drake Pintail Anas acuta was again present on Far Lake. Wigeon Anas penelope and Teal Anas crecca showed will from South Hide, sheltering from the wind in the lea of the trees. 12 Curlew Numenius arquata were feeding in the field at the reserve entrance.
