Garden Wildlife – 13/01/2019

Mainly overcast day with occasional sunny breaks, a fresh westerly gale blowing. Temperature around ten degrees C.

Decided to have a look at the Ivy and Euonymus in the garden, to see what insects I could find overwintering and was pleased with the results. Good numbers of 7-spot Ladybird Coccinella septempunctata in the Euonymus, along with a single 10-spot Ladybird Adalia decempunctata. The Ivy produced the best results with Blue Shieldbug Zicrona caerulea being a nice find. Other True Bugs included Birch Catkin Bug Kleidocerys resedae, Scolopostethus decoratus and Anthocoris nemoralis, the latter a new species for me.
