Kilnsea Wetlands – 29/01/2019

A bright start, eventually clouding over, with a gentle southerly breeze blowing. Temperature around three degrees C.

A visit to Kilnsea Wetlands and environs added a few more species to the year-list. Fifteen Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa were on the Wetlands, whilst in the field just north there were several Golden Plover Pluvialis apricaria along with six Roe Deer Capreolus capreolus. In field to the west of the Wetlands a single White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons was associating with eight Whooper Swan Cygnus cygnus and several Mute Swan Cygnus olor. On the mud-flats from the Crown and Anchor in Kilnsea, 34 Brent Goose Branta bernicla were close in. Good numbers of Knot Calidris canutus were also present.
