North Cave Wetlands – 14/04/2019

A morning visit predominantly overcast, a moderate easterly breeze blowing. Temperature high of eight degrees C.

The cool conditions and moderate easterly breeze meant that it was fairly quiet on the invertebrate front. Alder Leaf Beetle Agelastica alni was new for the year (NFY), along with a Muscidae sp. A Ground Weevil Barynotus obscurus was again found along the path to Turret Hide. An Eristalis tenax hoverfly was sheltering in a gap on Turret Hide.

Mammal-wise a Roe Deer Capreolus capreolus was in the New Working near Far Lake. Several Brown Hare Lepus europaeus noted today, mainly around the new workings to the west, though one was also in North Field.
