North Cliffe Wood – 29/06/2019

Two visits to this Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve. A morning visit with sunny conditions, a light south-easterly breeze blowing, temperature around 23 degrees C. This was followed by a late evening visit for a few hours of moth trapping, still conditions, with temperature still high at 18 degrees C at mid-night.

A good morning was spent hunting for invertebrates with a couple of new species encountered (excluding the moths). First was Neocrepidodera ferruginea Wheat Flea Beetle, followed by True Bug Phylus melanocephalus. Several first for the year (NFY) were noted, see list below.

A return after sunset for a couple of hours resulted in 57 species of moths recorded. Three new species logged included Ochropacha duplaris Common Lutestring, Polia nebulosa Grey Arches and Spatalistis bifasciana Small Purple Button.
