Flamborough to Filey – 06/02/2020

A sunny day with a light southerly breeze. Starting of with a frost, temperature rising to eight degrees C.

Thornwick Pools

Highlight was the Grey Phalarope Phalaropus fulicarius.

Flamborough Head

Highlight was the Black Redstart Phoenicurus ochruros around the Fog Horn Station, with a Stonechat Saxicola rubicola close by. A Grey Seal Halichoerus grypus was just off the Headland. A White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons was with the Greylag Geese Anser anser along the road to North Bay.


Two Short-eared Owl Asio flammeus were hunting the field to the south of the visitors centre. Fourteen Corn Bunting Emberiza calandra flew north.


Black-throated Diver Gavia arctica was in the bay off Cobble Landing.
