Pocklington Canal – 12/06/14

Paid a brief morning visit to the Bielby Side Arm of Pocklington Canal.  Several Banded Demoiselle Calopteryx splendens in evidence, though mainly on Bielby Beck, where a couple of Kingfishers Alcedo atthis showed briefly. No large dragonflies observed with just a couple of Large Red Damseflies Pyrrhosoma nymphula and Blue-tailed Damselflies Ischnura elegans, along with good numbers of Azure Damseflies Coenagrion puella. Photographed a couple of beetles, Chrysolina polita and Garden Chafer Phyllopertha horticola.
